OpenAI recently announced the release of GPT-4, a sophisticated AI model that represents a significant leap in AI capabilities. Unlike its predecessor, GPT-4 can understand both text and images, making it a multimodal AI. It demonstrates human-level performance on various professional and academic benchmarks, surpassing GPT-3.5, especially in complex tasks. GPT-4 has already been integrated into services by companies like Microsoft, Stripe, Duolingo, and Morgan Stanley, showcasing its versatile applications.
Despite its advancements, GPT-4 isn't without limitations. It still occasionally “hallucinates” facts and can make reasoning errors. Moreover, it lacks awareness of events post-September 2021 and does not learn from its interactions. However, improvements have been made in areas like safety and content restriction, with GPT-4 being more aligned with OpenAI's policies.
